Type species: Flustrellaria fragilis d'Orbigny, 1853
Some 34 species were originally defined in this genus by d'Orbigny: most have been reassigned or considered as junior synonyms of other species; particularly by Canu, 1900. However, the status of all these must be considered as in need of revision.
