Retiflustra reticulum (Hincks, 1882)

Retiflustra reticulum occurs from the Recent of southern Australia.

Photograph © Copyright Jan Watson. Photograph off Port Phillip Heads, Australia. The colony is attached by turgid roots grown from the axils of branch junctions. Note that the feeding zooids face down into the cavity between the colony and the sandy sediment surface. The colony surface is colonised by crustose coralline algae.

An additional colour photograph by Karen Gowlett-Holmes is available.
