Parasmittina tropica (Waters, 1909)

Parasmittina tropica is distributed widely in the Indo-Pacific.

Original description: Smittia tropica Waters, 1909
Locality: Red Sea
Holotype:

Description from Harmer, 1957: Page 934, Page 935, Page 936, Page 937, Plate 64 (see figs 23-28).
Editorial comment 13/12/2010. Harmer included specimens from widely divergent localities in his synonymy: from southern Australia, Queensland, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Species included by Harmer as synonyms include P. munita, P. rostriformis, and Smittoidea hexagonalis, all of which are now considered valid species. The identity of the Indonesian material now needs to be reconsidered.
