Zágoršek & Gordon (2014) have shown that Eschara mortisaga Stolickza, 1862 belongs in the genus Adeonella.
The specimens used by Canu in erecting the new genus were misidentified.
The genus Smittistoma therefore needs a definition of a new type species. See the note by Harmer referenced below.
